Engage in Community Safety
Brant North - St. George, Glen Morris & Harrisburg
All of Brant is Welcome
IMPORTANT UPDATE

The Brant Community Safety Groups, including the Brant North Community Groups have been paused. This decision is a result of:
-
the recent Ontario Legislation Changes under the Community Safety and Policing Act
-
the changeover of the Brant County Police Service Board to the Brant County Detachment Board
-
the Brant County review on Community Groups and their scope/coverages required

The BNCSG hopes to be back in action soon. In the meantime stay safe, stay aware and report suspicious activity and crimes to the OPP Non Emergency Line (1-888-310-1122) - unless life threatening, please call 911. Follow Ontario Provincial Police - West Region on social media and look for #BRANTOPP to stay up to date on local activity.

About
It is important to engage community members in having a responsibility to the community with regards to any level of crime. We are working to educate the community on programs, such as those that aid in mental health, drugs, human trafficking, home safeguarding, crime reporting, road safety, etc. We want residents to know where and when to call in an incident and this will help to close the gaps currently being experienced through what is shared between neighbours or over social media vs. what is being reported to the OPP.
What We Do
-
host 3 meetings per year which feature a speaker as well as discuss community safety and brainstorm solutions; all are welcome
-
host 5 meetings per year which feature a team of executives and other volunteers to organize community events and implement solutions; all are welcome
-
host 3 to 5 Safety and Crime Prevention Walk events to increase safety awareness around the neighbourhood and publicly parked vehicles
What We Hope To Do
-
increase communication and awareness between Brant North Community Members and OPP
-
ensure residents know where and when to call in an incident to close the gaps currently being experienced through what is shared between neighbours or over social media vs. what is being reported to the OPP
-
educate the community on community programs that relate to safety and wellbeing
-
share resources available to community on behalf of local organizations such as SOAR (formerly St. Leonard's), Nova Vita, Crime Stoppers, etc.
-
participate in local community events to increase awareness - St. George Apple Fest, Glen Morris BBQ, St. George Lion's Bike Rodeo
